A revolution in Haitian education

Traditional education in Haiti:
rote learning without understanding context,
a lot of time wasted as each student waits for a turn at the blackboard,
from Day One, from youngest to oldest,
teaching is done in French...

...but these kids don't speak French, they speak creole!

Historically, our students have done well on
The Bureau of Education's standardized tests.
But there is a much better way to learn!
Matènwa!
The Matènwa Community Learning Center in Haiti is helping schools change the way they educate. Matènwa is making learning fun! PEACE Project is changing its schools to the Matènwa way. Our teachers are receiving training and inspiration.
-
Teaching is done in creole, "the mother tongue"
-
Participation & discussion is encouraged; students face each other
-
Huge emphasis on reading and creative writing; methodology leads to critical thinking, creativity, problem solving

PEACE Project is investing substantially in adopting the Matènwa method. There are transportation costs, room and board, and the reasonable amount Matènwa charges for the training. Can you help?
